2026 Lent Above and Beyond Challenge

 During the season of Lent, February 18-April 4, every member, friend and supporter of Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church is asked to participate in the 2026 Lent Above and Beyond Challenge. Tithe faithfully and give a special offering of $150 to celebrate our 150th birthday. The $150 will support your pledge to the Above and Beyond Campaign.

African American Marketplace Volunteers

Serve at the African American Marketplace on Saturday, February 28, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  There are many needs…your help will add to the success of the event.

AWANA Students Sign Up

Children's Church/Teen Talk/Nursery

Join the Children & Youth Ministry for Children’s Church, Teen Talk, and Nursery during BOTH SERVICES ON THEIR RESPECTIVE SUNDAYS. On 2nd Sundays, Elementary-school youth will have an opportunity to connect with each other and caring adults as they learn more about God in an engaging and interactive way. On 4th Sundays, Middle, and High School-aged youth will have an opportunity to connect with each other and caring adults as they discuss topics relevant to today’s teens while developing a biblical foundation to grow closer to God and each other. On BOTH 2nd and 4th Sundays, the Nursery is available.

CHOSEN - WORLD VISION MISSION INITIATIVE

Watts Chapel in partnership with the global organization World Vision, and we are part of the CHOSEN Campaign.

Thank you to each individual, family, and ministry who stepped up to sponsor a child in Rwanda. Through your commitment and generosity, over 200 children have been sponsored. Please stay in touch with your child and keep up with them. You may download the World Vision application if you haven’t already or communicate by logging into your World Vision account (https://www.worldvision.org/sponsorship).

Men of Watts Basketball Game Trip

The Men of Watts Ministry is sponsoring a Guys Night Out to Charlotte on Friday, April 10, to attend the Hornets vs the Detroit Pistons Basketball Game.  We will have our own VIP box seats.  Cost is $100 per person and includes round trip bus ride and 1 box seat ticket.  The bus will leave Watts at precisely 2:00 pm and will return by 10:30 pm. MONTHLY RUN/WALK CHALLENGE

The Health & Wellness Ministry is encouraging members to stay active and healthy. Members are invited to participate in the Run/Walk Challenge from February 1-28. Walk or run 50, 75, or 100 miles this month. Download the NRC (Nike Run Club) App on your Smartphone or Smartwatch. PLACE Module

Watts Chapel Connect Ministry is excited to announce the launch of our online P.L.A.C.E. Modules, a self-paced online experience designed to help you discover how God has uniquely shaped you for service—through your personality, spiritual gifts, passions, abilities, and life experiences—and how those connect to ministry at Watts Chapel and in the community. We are excited to expand our digital ministry and reach more people through Facebook and YouTube Live streams. To help with this effort, we encourage you to share our live streams while in the sanctuary. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to do so:

Sharing on Facebook Live Stream:

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR PHONE IS SILENCED AND THE VOLUME IS ON ZERO, SO THAT WE DON’T HAVE FEEDBACK IN THE SERVICE (This is crucial).

  • Open the Facebook app on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Search for “Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church” in the search bar at the top.
  • Once you find our official page, click on it to open.
  • Look for the live stream post (it will typically have a red “Live” badge).
  • Under the live stream video, you will see options to like, comment, and share.
  • Click on the “Share” button.
  • Choose “Share Now (Public)” to make sure your friends and followers can see it.
  • In the caption or comment section, include the hashtag #WCMBC to help share the gospel of Jesus Christ and broaden our reach 
  • Click on “Post” or “Share” to share the live stream to your Facebook timeline.

Sharing on YouTube Live Stream:

  • Open the YouTube app on your smartphone or tablet.
  • In the search bar at the top, type “Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Live Stream.”
  • Once you find our live stream, click on it to open.
  • Below the video player, you will see options to like, comment, and share.
  • Tap on the “Share” button.
  • Choose the platform where you want to share it (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc.).
  • Add a caption or message along with the hashtag #WCMBC to promote our church.
  • Click on “Share” to post the live stream link to your chosen platform.

Additional Tips:

  • Encourage your friends and family to tune in by sharing a personal invitation along with the live stream link.

  • Feel free to share multiple times during the live stream to reach different audiences.

The Watts Social Media Ministry

Sisterhood Weekend

CALLING ALL LADIES! Sisterhood Weekend will be held March 6-8. Our theme for this year’s event is “Rooted in Love, Empowered for More”, Ephesians 3:17-18. Friday at 7:00 pm and Saturday at 10:00 am will be held at Martin Street Baptist Church, The Family Life Center, 1001 E. Martin Street, Raleigh. Join us for food, fellowship, the preached Word, and opportunities to build bonds of support for one another. Registration is required for Friday and Saturday, the cost is $40/person. We will culminate the weekend with worship at Watts Chapel at Sisterhood Sunday, with a special focus on the Women of Watts at both services.  Sign up by Wednesday, February 25 at 11:45 pm.

TRAILBLAZERS SENIOR MINISTRY

The Watts Chapel Trailblazers Senior Ministry invites everyone age 55 and above to meet every 3rd Tuesday at 10 AM in the Multipurpose Room. Guest speakers, Senior News, Senior health tips, trips, and more are how our Seniors keep their minds and bodies active. Trailblazers Trip

The Trailblazers Ministry invites Senior Adults to take a trip to tour historic civil rights sites in Alabama and Georgia on April 27-May 2.  We will visit Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, and Tuskegee, Alabama; and Atlanta, Georgia. Sites include the Civil Rights Institute; 16th St. Baptist Church; the Rosa Parks Museum; the Edmund Pettus Bridge and more. Spaces are limited. For questions, email seniors@wattschapel.org.

TRANSPORTATION TO WORSHIP

Watts Chapel’s Transportation Ministry offers transportation to the 10:30 am Worship Service for riders within a 5-mile radius of the church (3703 Tryon Road, Raleigh). Reservations can be made starting at 9:00 am on Monday mornings and must be received by 11:00 am on the Friday before the upcoming Sunday service. A Transportation Waiver is required for each rider. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older. Masks are mandatory.

NOTE: Watts Chapel Transportation Vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair lift ramps.

Watts Scholars

Watts Scholars will be recognized on Sunday, March 15 immediately following the 10:30 worship service. We will honor elementary students who achieved a rating of 3 or 4 on the grade level standards and middle and high school students who made the A, A/B honor roll for the 2nd quarter of this school year. A copy of your child’s report card can be emailed to scholarship@wattschapel.org by Monday, March 2, at 5:00 pm. Please include the student’s grade level, a parent or guardian’s name, phone number, and email address in the email submission. Thank you for your cooperation in adhering to the deadline.

WCPAM Civic Engagement 3-Day Event

The Watts Chapel Political Awareness Ministry invites everyone to participate in a meaningful three-day civic experience, “Claim Your Power – Own Your Political Voice”, on Thursday, February 26, at 7:00 pm and on Saturday, March 21, 10:00 am.  All sessions will be held in the Multipurpose Room. This civic experience will allow you to understand how power flows in our U.S. system of government – federal, state and local, explore the connection between representation, your taxes, and accountability; and respectfully articulate concerns to political candidates. This experience aligns with the call to be informed, engaged, and responsible citizens—seeking justice, accountability, and the well-being of our neighbors. Registration for the entire event is $5.00 and includes Thursday refreshments and a continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Email wcpam@wattschapel.org with any questions, Register by March 21.

The Watts Chapel Political Awareness Ministry is dedicated to assisting church members and the greater community in becoming informed and involved constituents.  We believe that we need to hold our representatives accountable and ensure they are meeting the needs of our families and our community. 

Between February 8th – March 1st, we will be available in Rooms 8 & 10 after the 8:30 am and 10:30 am worship services to answer questions and assist anyone who needs help.
