Children's Church/Teen Talk

Join the Children & Youth Ministry for Children’s Church and Teen Talk during BOTH SERVICES ON THEIR RESPECTIVE SUNDAYS. On 2nd Sundays, Elementary-school youth will have an opportunity to connect with each other and caring adults as they learn more about God in an engaging and interactive way. On 4th Sundays, Middle, and High School-aged youth will have an opportunity to connect with each other and caring adults as they discuss topics relevant to today’s teens while developing a biblical foundation to grow closer to God and each other.

CHOSEN - WORLD VISION MISSION INITIATIVE

Watts Chapel in partnership with the global organization World Vision, and we are part of the CHOSEN Campaign.

Thank you to each individual, family, and ministry who stepped up to sponsor a child in Rwanda. Through your commitment and generosity, over 200 children have been sponsored. Please stay in touch with your child and keep up with them. You may download the World Vision application if you haven’t already or communicate by logging into your World Vision account (https://www.worldvision.org/sponsorship).

College Love Offering

Get Ready to Vote!

To make the 2024 election process easier, the African American History Ministry is providing QR Codes for quick access to voter information, sample ballots, and other essential resources.   The ministry is also available to help senior members or any others that may need assistance. Take advantage of these tools to ensure that everyone is FULLY PREPARED FOR THE UPCOMING ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 5. Find the QR Codes in the Church Vestibule/Lobby.

Habitat Build

Watts Missionary Ministry is looking for 20 volunteers to assist Habitat for Humanity Wake in building homes. Persons ages 16 and up are invited on Saturday, October 19, 2024; 8:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The location is 24 Kelley Meadows Drive in Knightdale.  Please register to join by October 13. The Health & Wellness Ministry is encouraging members to stay active and healthy. Nursery Registration

The Watts Nursery will be available for children from 18 months to 4 years old and will be offered during BOTH SERVICES on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.  Pre-registration is required. Please sign up as space is limited.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Nursery:

  1. What are the nursery’s operating hours?
  • The nursery will operate on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month during the regular church service hours. We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to allow time for check-in.
  1. Who can attend the nursery?
  • The nursery is open to children aged 18 months to 4 years old. There are two rooms: one for 18 months – 2 years old and one for 3-4 year olds.
  1. What is the check-in/check-out process?
  • We use a secure check-in system. Upon arrival, you’ll receive matching tags for you and your child. You must present your tag during check-out to pick up your child.
  1. What safety measures are in place?
  • Our nursery is equipped with childproofing items such as outlet covers, and non-slip mats. Volunteers are also trained in basic first aid, and we have a readily available first aid kit.
  1. Who are the volunteers, and are they background checked?
  • Our volunteers include dedicated church members who have undergone background checks and training to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for your child.
  1. What curriculum will be used?
  • The nursery curriculum includes age-appropriate Bible stories, songs, crafts, and sensory activities designed to engage young children fun and meaningfully.
  1. Do I need to bring anything for my child?
  • Please bring any necessary items your child may need during their time in the nursery, such as a labeled diaper bag, extra clothes, diapers, wipes, and a bottle or sippy cup if needed.
  1. What if my child has allergies or special needs?
  • During the registration/check-in process, please inform us of any allergies or special needs your child may have. We will do our best to accommodate and ensure your child’s safety and comfort.
  1. How will I be notified if my child needs me during the service?
  • If your child needs you during the service, we will contact you via the phone number provided during check-in, or a nursery volunteer will quietly alert you.
  1. How can I volunteer or get involved in the nursery?
  • We welcome volunteers to help in the nursery! If you’re interested, please contact our Children and Youth Director at childrenandyouth@wattschapel.org to learn more about the process, including background checks and training.
ONE Wake Community Meeting

On Thursday, October 10, come to the ONE Wake Community meeting,  at Watts Chapel at 7 pm.  Dialog with and hear from local political candidates on issues regarding affordable housing and be there for the presentation of the 10,000 PLUS signature petition in support of attainable housing for all. SATURDAY SMALL GROUP

WATTS SMALL GROUP SATURDAY RETURNS ON ZOOM on Saturday, October 12 at 9:00 am. Join us for Unit 3 of THE “LIFE OF CHRIST.” This 6-week class series will highlight such topics as Jesus as the Master Teacher, the Transfiguration, Jesus’ Prayer for Believers and many others. Join us October 12 – November 16. Look for lesson in October.

The Watts Chapel Senior Ministry invites everyone age 55 and above to meet every 3rd Tuesday at 10 AM in the Multipurpose Room. Guest speakers, Senior News, Senior health tips, trips, and more are how our Seniors keep their minds and bodies active. We are excited to expand our digital ministry and reach more people through Facebook and YouTube Live streams. To help with this effort, we encourage you to share our live streams while in the sanctuary. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to do so:

Sharing on Facebook Live Stream:

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR PHONE IS SILENCED AND THE VOLUME IS ON ZERO, SO THAT WE DON’T HAVE FEEDBACK IN THE SERVICE (This is crucial).

  • Open the Facebook app on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Search for “Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church” in the search bar at the top.
  • Once you find our official page, click on it to open.
  • Look for the live stream post (it will typically have a red “Live” badge).
  • Under the live stream video, you will see options to like, comment, and share.
  • Click on the “Share” button.
  • Choose “Share Now (Public)” to make sure your friends and followers can see it.
  • In the caption or comment section, include the hashtag #WCMBC to help share the gospel of Jesus Christ and broaden our reach 
  • Click on “Post” or “Share” to share the live stream to your Facebook timeline.

Sharing on YouTube Live Stream:

  • Open the YouTube app on your smartphone or tablet.
  • In the search bar at the top, type “Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Live Stream.”
  • Once you find our live stream, click on it to open.
  • Below the video player, you will see options to like, comment, and share.
  • Tap on the “Share” button.
  • Choose the platform where you want to share it (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc.).
  • Add a caption or message along with the hashtag #WCMBC to promote our church.
  • Click on “Share” to post the live stream link to your chosen platform.

Additional Tips:

  • Encourage your friends and family to tune in by sharing a personal invitation along with the live stream link.

The Watts Social Media Ministry

Souls to the Polls

Watts will join the “Souls to the Polls” event on Sunday, October 20! The church family will gather with other Raleigh and Wake County citizens at the Martin Luther King Memorial Gardens, 1500 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, at 2:15 pm, where there will be a march to John Chavis Memorial Park to vote together.

TLC MINISTRY

The TLC Ministry provides prayer, encouragement and resource information to our Watts Chapel family members who are caring for elderly, special needs or disabled loved ones.

TRANSPORTATION TO WORSHIP

Watts Chapel’s Transportation Ministry offers transportation to the 10:30 am Worship Service for riders within a 5-mile radius of the church (3703 Tryon Road, Raleigh). Reservations can be made starting at 9:00 am on Monday mornings and must be received by 11:00 am on the Friday before the upcoming Sunday service. A Transportation Waiver is required for each rider. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older. Masks are mandatory.

NOTE: Watts Chapel Transportation Vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair lift ramps.

Tribe of Asher Fellowship

The Tribe of Asher, last names beginning with S, will have a Tribal Fellowship on Saturday, October 13, 2:30 pm to 4 pm at Method Road Community Center, Pioneer Building, 514 Method Road, Raleigh.  Church members whose last names begin with S are invited. Our Trunk or Treat event is on Friday, October 25, 6pm-8pm.  Children and Youth, come out for a good harvest time…..and adults….we need your trunks…. Sign up to participate in the event.

YAM Game Night

Calling all young adults, age 18-39! Get ready for an evening filled with fun, laughter, and friendly competition at the YAM Game Night on Friday, October 11, 7 pm to 10 pm in the Multipurpose Room! Whether you’re a board game enthusiast, a card shark, or just looking for a great time, come connect and unwind. Expect a variety of games, prizes, refreshments, and great fellowship! Cost is $5 per person. Meet new friends and strengthen existing relationships in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Bring your favorite game if you like.

Youth Volunteers at Oak city cares

There is an opportunity for 10 to 15 youth, 5th grade and up, to serve at Oak City Cares, 1430 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 12 pm to 2 pm.  We will serve in the distribution area to provide supplies to the homeless.
