Volunteer With Our Children And Youth Ministry

Thank you for your willingness to serve in our Children and Youth Ministries. Watts Chapel would not be able to have such an effective ministry to our children and students without the faithful service of individuals like you. We recognize the importance of what you do and the impact you are having for God’s kingdom. I pray that God will continue to give you a passion to serve Him here at Watts Chapel.

It is our desire that we have the best ministry we can possibly have for our children and students. This will, of course, include ensuring we have the safest ministries possible for our kids. For this reason, all individuals working with our youth must complete the Volunteer Application form and have a background check completed. It is unfortunate that we need to take such precautions in the church but it is the prudent thing to do with the current moral decay we see in our world. Please know that these checks are not a reflection on any of our workers – just a necessary precaution.

The Volunteer Application form will be used to check references and contact other places where individuals have served. It will also allow us to update all of your information so our records will be accurate. The background check will include both a Social Security and Criminal records search. The need for the criminal background check is to ensure that all of our workers have been screened and there are no child offenders serving in our ministries. The Social Security check is a secondary check that is used to verify addresses of past places of residence.

All applications and background checks will be reviewed by Minister Richard, Director of Children & Youth Ministries and Sis. Tiffany Jackson, AWANA Ministry Leader at Watts Chapel. In our desire to keep your information confidential, we are encouraging everyone who can, to complete the background check form online. By doing this, you will not have to give us this sensitive information and we will not have to secure it.

Thank you again for your faithful service and your willingness to help us ensure the highest quality and safest ministry possible for our children. If you have any questions about this policy or the procedures, please feel free to contact Minister Harris at (919) 828-7348, ext. 108.
